Oklahoma native and is threatening to move the Sonics to Oklahoma City after 2007-2008 season if they don't build a new arena. I am a resident of a nearby suburb of Seattle, WA and I am not in favor of having a new arena built. First off, the Seattle tax payers and Washington State taxpayers in general already paid for a new baseball stadium, Safeco Field and Quest Field, the Seahawks Stadium during the past 8 years. Also, Key Arena, where the Sonics play, was re-modeled in 1994 and the city is still paying on that. Key Arena is a nice arena which sits just over 17,000 for basketball. It is the smallest NBA arena, but there isn't a bad seat in the house. I feel that Mr. Bennett wanted to move the team to Oklahoma the entire time since he has owned the Sonics, since July 2006. The Sonics just lost their 2 marquis players, Ray Allen to the Boston Celtics and Rashard Lewis to the Orlando Magic. I say, let them go. We don't even sell-out games now, so what's the point in having a
Will the Seattle SuperSonics re-locate to Oklahoma City? And if so, when? The Sonics owner Clay Bennett is asporting goods
Bennett has set an Oct. 31 deadline for the stadium deal to be set. Right now the only serious offer is by the Muckleshoot Tribe in Auburn. They would give the land to the Sonics for free to build the stadium plus assist with building costs. The total figure is unknown. The city of Seattle has enrolled Slade Gorton to help hold the team to its lease deal at Key Arena until the lease runs out in 2010. Bennett will probably get his way and relocate the team.

You cared enough to pour out your rant. If you didn't care you would shrug your shoulders, say good riddance, order a Starbucks Vanilla Latte Venti and be on your way.
Seattle is not manly enough for sports teams anyway! I've met a few people from there, and they fit all the typical stereotypes of a Seattleite!
Woop dee doo so they'll just stink up another area of the country.. I bet the Oklahoma City residents are THRILLED of having a team thats going nowhere instead of the New Orleans Hornetts who could make the playoffs this year.
Seattle will most likely re-locate to Oklahoma City in the upcoming years. Oklahoma City has shown that it has a good fan base with the New Orleans Hornets. The trade of Ray Allen to Boston and the departure of Rashard Lewis to Orlando are signs that the team will relocate soon. Seattle will most likely be headed to another lottery season because they chose to rebuild. Look for Oklahoma City to be the new home of the Seattle Sonics.
good points. but, the sonics just recently got something that should make the fans come back... kevin durant. he's gonna bring back the fans, him and jeff green. i mean i understand why u want the sonics to move to oklahoma, but let's just give these 2 guys a chance. they might make seattle a contender in the playoffs. they're 2 great young athletes with loads of potential. if the sonics end the season with a horrible record, then i agree that they should move. but kevin durant and jeff green should attract alotta seattle fans.
